Easter Entertaining at Home with Moyarta

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

Easter is always such a fun and happy time to entertain at home. Chocolate eggs, a delicious menu of roast lamb with early Autumn vegetables, egg hunts in the garden and happy family times. Easter brings plenty of colour inspiration for setting a beautiful table as there are so many coloured eggs and other decorations to be found at this time of year.

We love planning and decorating a beautiful table for entertaining at home and wanted to share with you some photos as a little bit of inspiration for your Easter entertaining.

We chose bright shades of pink for our theme and carried this across the table through the use of pink limogue plates and beautiful Le Jacquard Francais linens. We added our little Moyarta jeweled napkin rings and filled ceramic bunnies with a couple of mini pale pink eggs.

Our centerpieces on the table were antique silver baskets filled with hand dyed eggs in lovely shades of pink. We used little sprigs of fresh herbs from the garden in the dying process to make patterns on our eggs and to turn each one into a little art creation of its own.

We love to mix in vintage pieces with new ones on the table and chose pale pink American vintage wine glasses by Fostoria and a beautiful pale pink Vaseline glass bowl with a frilled edge that held our freshly baked hot cross buns when they came out of the oven.

We carried our pink theme across the dining room and created a pink Easter display to sit on our sideboard. We used different types of flowers in small vases as well as little dishes of eggs in coordinating shades. The pink vase is again an American vintage piece made by Fenton.

To finish off our gorgeous Easter lunch (and because we still hadn’t had enough chocolate of course!) we had luscious double layer chocolate ganache cake with sparkly pink eggs on top.

Happy Easter entertaining everyone from all of us at Moyarta.

Autumn Entertaining - using seasonal produce as inspiration for the perfect table.

Sunday, May 27, 2012
Inspired by our years of living in America’s North East, surrounded by the spectacular colours of the fall, we decided to put together some ideas for seasonal Autumn entertaining not only for our own enjoyment but as inspiration for our Moyarta readers as well. A beautifully decorated table using the fall colour pallet along with a wonderfully tasty and aromatic menu. Now as Autumn is upon us here in Australia and the weather is getting colder, it’s the perfect time to be setting an Autumn inspired table, creating a wonderful seasonal menu and inviting friends and family around for a cosy harvest feast.

Vermont foliage in the fall.

There’s something very satisfying about going to a local farmers market or even visiting a farm or orchard and picking out the freshest produce, directly from the grower in order to create a special seasonal menu.  Throughout the North East during the fall, roadside markets selling pumpkins and squash can be found everywhere as the country gets ready to decorate for Halloween and Thanksgiving.

Roadside farmers market in Vermont, USA.

We are fortunate to be close to the wonderful Northside Produce Market here in Sydney that is held on the third Saturday of every month.  On our recent visit, we sourced fresh fruits and vegetables, cheeses, wines, meat, flowers and eggs all directly from growers all over NSW.  Totally inspired by what we found, we created our beautifully fragrant Autumn Butternut Squash and Apple Soup (contact us for the recipe).

We also recently found out about the wonderful Locavore fresh produce guides.  The guide has been produced for Victoria, with the NSW version coming in Spring 2012.  The guide is a wonderful resource for sourcing seasonal produce directly from growers and should provide plenty of inspiration for seasonal cooking:

Next on the list was creating our Autumn table using accessories in all the colours of the fall.  Here’s a picture of our table.  We used linen and accessories in varying shades of orange, green and gold.

We’ve put together an inspiration board for putting together an Autumn table using the same colour pallet.  Our board uses coloured linens from Sferra, beautiful china and glassware from some of the world’s finest brands as well as accessories available from Moyarta.

Source Guide:
1. Sferra Festival Linens, available in tablecloths, napkins and placemats.  Colours shown are Paprika, Sunset, Brick and Sage.
2. Bernardaud Frivole after dinner cup and saucer.
3. Wedgewood Dynasty Soup Bowl.
4. Moyarta Olive Woven Placemat.
5. Medusa Soup Ladle by Versace.
6. Kim Seybert Glassware.
7.  Moyarta Lime Flower Burst Napkin Ring.
8. Kim Seybert Herringbone Napkin.
9. Kim Seybert Celedon Spider Burst Napkin Ring.
10. Havilland Laque De Chine dinnerware.

So cosy up with friends and family, a steaming bowl of soup and enjoy a long relaxing Autumn afternoon entertaining in style.

Setting The Christmas Table at Lindesay House using Moyarta’s Accessories

Thursday, November 24, 2011
Apart from the dazzling array of Christmas gifts, antiques and décor on display at the annual Lindesay Christmas Fair, one of the key attractions each year is the Lindesay Christmas table.

Each year, the dining table in the large red, formal dining room is styled by National Trust Committee member and stylist extraordinaire, Annette Blinco.
This year, Moyarta were delighted to participate in the fair and thrilled to be asked to include our accessories on the dining table.

Set in spectacular tones of teal and aqua, the table was a focal point of the fair and a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase our Moyarta accessories.

Antique silverware and glassware glistened on the table all of which was for sale through Showcase Antiques, one of the antique vendors exhibiting at the fair. We were most tempted by the little Victorian teal coloured cocktail glasses  on the table, not to mention the Sterling Silver Kings Pattern flatware service.

We would like to thank Annette for including our accessories on the Christmas table in such a stunning, formal dining room.

We are already looking forward to participating in the fair again next year and to assisting with accessorizing the table again in 2012.

A little bird told us that the 2012 table is going to be pale pink and is sure to be just as gorgeous as this year’s table.

Break out of your "Beige Haze" with Kim Seybert and Moyarta Table Accessories

Friday, October 28, 2011

On a recent trip to Queensland, we enjoyed speaking to our customers; those who attended our Moyarta Trunk Show in beautiful Noosa as well as the owners of several of the large home decorating and interiors stores. We learned more about how people like to entertain in these gorgeous coastal settings and also how they like to style their tables at home.

Until recently it seems, decorating trends in the area have leaned towards white, beige and ecru when it came to home decorating in general but also specifically for decorating the table.

Several of our customers and others expressed the feeling of needing a change from this colour pallet and wanting to introduce more colour to their tables.

One lady even expressed needing to break out of the "beige haze" and bring more colour to her table.

After hearing this we decided to check out the local home interiors stores and see what we could find.

There is certainly plenty of opportunity to find gorgeous items for the home in and around Noosa.  The white, beige and ecru colour concept is definitely in evidence but we were excited to come across this blackboard sign as we walked along Hastings Street Noosa. It confirmed our belief that colour is back and that's what we at Moyarta are all about. It's such a source of inspiration for us and we love accessorizing our tables with beautiful coloured napkins, placemats and napkin rings.

We loved how one store had used aqua, turquoise and teal glass accessories to showcase how these colours can coordinate beautifully with white and beige.

By introducing just a few coloured pieces to the table, you can achieve a whole new look and feel for beige and white accessories you may already own. It's a way of still using and keeping what you already own for your table but giving it a new lease on life with a breath of fresh colour.

We've put together some looks using the beautiful designs of Kim Seybert New York as well as our own Moyarta brand placemats, napkins and napkin rings to show how we can use teal, aqua, blue and turquoise to liven up the beige and white.

      LOOK 1

In Look 1, we've co-ordinated the Kim Seybert concentric placemat with a turquoise linen hemstitched napkin and a beautiful jeweled wood constellation napkin ring.

      LOOK 2

In Look 2, we've used our Moyarta teal raffia placemat and monogram collection hemstitched napkin with a Kim Seybert pearl shell dome napkin ring.

       LOOK 3

In Look 3, we've shown a choice of a Kim Seybert azure capiz placemat or a Moyarta teal raffia placemat and co-ordinated these with a Kim Seybert beige linen napkin and our Moyarta flower burst napkin ring.

       LOOK 4

In our final look, we've chosen capiz lace shell placemat, a white linen napkin with turquoise herringbone embroidery and stunning jeweled poprock napkin ring, all from Kim Seybert.

As we head into Summer here in Australia, there's no need to be stuck in a "Beige Haze". Why not liven up your table by introducing a splash of colour.

Simply choose a bright napkin, a jeweled napkin ring or a beaded placemat to coordinate perfectly with the white or beige pieces you already own for your table. Browse all our collections on our website for more inspiration or call us to arrange a consultation. We'd be delighted to help you.

Introducing Kim Seybert:- Designer Lifestyle Accessories to Australia.

Friday, June 17, 2011

During our time in the US, we discovered the gorgeous and unique collections of Kim Seybert. I’ve always had a passion for entertaining and styling the table and was so excited to find this wonderful brand of tabletop accessories. Beautiful beaded placemats and napkin rings, luxuriously embroidered table linens and what I loved most was the fact that just like fashion, there was a new collection each fall and spring.

We first met with the Kim Seybert team at the New York Gift Fair in 2009 and have had several meetings since that time. Now, after many, many months of planning and organizing, Moyarta is thrilled to bring the wonderful collections of Kim Seybert Designer Lifestyle Accessories to Australia.

Moyarta are the exclusive retailer of these gorgeous accessories in Australia and we are so proud to be associated with such a leading US tabletop company.

But who is Kim Seybert and how does she go about designing these fabulous treasures for the table?

“Not so very long ago, style for the home was a largely unexplored territory. Tabletop accessories were often extremely traditional, or pulled out only for the most special occasions. Kim Seybert launched a fresh perspective into this world by introducing her refined fashion sensibility and a love of rich color and texture. Combining her personal philosophy and extensive design experience, she created a supremely stylish collection for modern living.”

Those who love to entertain are drawn to Kim Seybert's designs. Whether serving dinner on a yacht or outfitting a favorite picnic basket, customers share an attention to detail and a love of beauty that Kim herself treasures.

Kim Seybert wants to bring fashion to the dining room. The president of the eponymous New York company spent 10 years on Seventh Avenue, including five as a designer of evening gowns and beaded cocktail dresses. Seybert didn’t intend to become an entrepreneur, but she got so many compliments on her handmade pillows, curtains, and throws that she brought some of her beaded table linens to Henri Bendel’s monthly screening sessions for new vendors. She got an order, and her company was on its way. Seybert still hews closely to the world of fashion, staying mindful of trends in colors and materials. “You get an intuition about what trends are hot,” she says. “I design my line the way I used to design clothing.” That is, with both style and profitability in mind.

Moyarta are excited to bring these stunning accessories to Australia through our online boutique,
