Easter Entertaining at Home with Moyarta

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

Easter is always such a fun and happy time to entertain at home. Chocolate eggs, a delicious menu of roast lamb with early Autumn vegetables, egg hunts in the garden and happy family times. Easter brings plenty of colour inspiration for setting a beautiful table as there are so many coloured eggs and other decorations to be found at this time of year.

We love planning and decorating a beautiful table for entertaining at home and wanted to share with you some photos as a little bit of inspiration for your Easter entertaining.

We chose bright shades of pink for our theme and carried this across the table through the use of pink limogue plates and beautiful Le Jacquard Francais linens. We added our little Moyarta jeweled napkin rings and filled ceramic bunnies with a couple of mini pale pink eggs.

Our centerpieces on the table were antique silver baskets filled with hand dyed eggs in lovely shades of pink. We used little sprigs of fresh herbs from the garden in the dying process to make patterns on our eggs and to turn each one into a little art creation of its own.

We love to mix in vintage pieces with new ones on the table and chose pale pink American vintage wine glasses by Fostoria and a beautiful pale pink Vaseline glass bowl with a frilled edge that held our freshly baked hot cross buns when they came out of the oven.

We carried our pink theme across the dining room and created a pink Easter display to sit on our sideboard. We used different types of flowers in small vases as well as little dishes of eggs in coordinating shades. The pink vase is again an American vintage piece made by Fenton.

To finish off our gorgeous Easter lunch (and because we still hadn’t had enough chocolate of course!) we had luscious double layer chocolate ganache cake with sparkly pink eggs on top.

Happy Easter entertaining everyone from all of us at Moyarta.

Moyarta at Life Instyle Sydney 2013

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

The Life Instyle is a unique trade only event that enables companies like Moyarta to showcase their designs to a wide range of retail buyers, design professionals and lifestyle media journalists.  Held twice a year, the organizers of the show describe Life Instyle as follows.  Life Instyle is a unique, trade only event dedicated to showcasing products that demonstrate creative excellence and design within a beautiful shopping environment.

Only our second time at the fair, Moyarta participated recently in the Sydney 2013 Life Instyle Fair held in the Royal Hall of Industries and the Horden Pavilion. We had the wonderful opportunity to meet with existing and new customers as well as media and design professionals. As the fair is a trade only event, we thought we would share some photos with our blog readers of our exhibit and what it’s all about.

We look forward to following up with all the new people we met during the fair and thank you to everyone who stopped by to look at our collections and chat with us about what they were doing and what they were looking for at the fair.

We are already looking forward to the next fair; Life Instyle Melbourne to be held in August and to launching our new look exhibit for the show.

Afternoon luncheon in a sunny courtyard: gorgeous Moyarta linen and accessories

Monday, July 23, 2012

We recently organized a small event in a gorgeous Sydney courtyard for a sunny afternoon luncheon. The table theme or tablescape was built around our Moyarta fern linens and coordinating green accessories.

We wanted to share some of the photos from the shoot with our readers.

We used a combination of different types of green glassware to coordinate with our fern embroidered dinner napkins, green woven placemats and matching jewel flower napkin rings

The little green sherbert glasses in the center of each place setting are Ameriacn vintage Federal glass. The darker green champagne flutes are new and we felt the contrasting shades of green looked fabulous on the table and highlighted the shading of greens in the embroidery of the napkins.

Click here for the links to the napkins, placemats and napkin rings in our Moyarta eBoutique and happy table planning.

Autumn Entertaining - using seasonal produce as inspiration for the perfect table.

Sunday, May 27, 2012
Inspired by our years of living in America’s North East, surrounded by the spectacular colours of the fall, we decided to put together some ideas for seasonal Autumn entertaining not only for our own enjoyment but as inspiration for our Moyarta readers as well. A beautifully decorated table using the fall colour pallet along with a wonderfully tasty and aromatic menu. Now as Autumn is upon us here in Australia and the weather is getting colder, it’s the perfect time to be setting an Autumn inspired table, creating a wonderful seasonal menu and inviting friends and family around for a cosy harvest feast.

Vermont foliage in the fall.

There’s something very satisfying about going to a local farmers market or even visiting a farm or orchard and picking out the freshest produce, directly from the grower in order to create a special seasonal menu.  Throughout the North East during the fall, roadside markets selling pumpkins and squash can be found everywhere as the country gets ready to decorate for Halloween and Thanksgiving.

Roadside farmers market in Vermont, USA.

We are fortunate to be close to the wonderful Northside Produce Market here in Sydney that is held on the third Saturday of every month.  On our recent visit, we sourced fresh fruits and vegetables, cheeses, wines, meat, flowers and eggs all directly from growers all over NSW.  Totally inspired by what we found, we created our beautifully fragrant Autumn Butternut Squash and Apple Soup (contact us for the recipe).

We also recently found out about the wonderful Locavore fresh produce guides.  The guide has been produced for Victoria, with the NSW version coming in Spring 2012.  The guide is a wonderful resource for sourcing seasonal produce directly from growers and should provide plenty of inspiration for seasonal cooking:

Next on the list was creating our Autumn table using accessories in all the colours of the fall.  Here’s a picture of our table.  We used linen and accessories in varying shades of orange, green and gold.

We’ve put together an inspiration board for putting together an Autumn table using the same colour pallet.  Our board uses coloured linens from Sferra, beautiful china and glassware from some of the world’s finest brands as well as accessories available from Moyarta.

Source Guide:
1. Sferra Festival Linens, available in tablecloths, napkins and placemats.  Colours shown are Paprika, Sunset, Brick and Sage.
2. Bernardaud Frivole after dinner cup and saucer.
3. Wedgewood Dynasty Soup Bowl.
4. Moyarta Olive Woven Placemat.
5. Medusa Soup Ladle by Versace.
6. Kim Seybert Glassware.
7.  Moyarta Lime Flower Burst Napkin Ring.
8. Kim Seybert Herringbone Napkin.
9. Kim Seybert Celedon Spider Burst Napkin Ring.
10. Havilland Laque De Chine dinnerware.

So cosy up with friends and family, a steaming bowl of soup and enjoy a long relaxing Autumn afternoon entertaining in style.

How To Choose The Perfect Colour for Your Table Linens - The Sferra App

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Firstly, who would have thought that it was possible to even find table linen in 101 colours and secondly, who would have thought that there would be an App developed just to help you choose your colour.

Well, we are here to officially tell you that all things are indeed possible.

Moyarta have recently become the exclusive Australian stockists of the fabulous Sferra Festival linens that are available in 101 beautiful and vibrant colours. Beautiful quality, hemstitched linens made exclusively for Sferra in Europe using exceptional linen from Lithuania.

It’s simple really. The App is designed for iPhones and iPads so all you have to do in order to get started is download it from the iTunes App store.  It’s fun, free and will only take a couple of seconds.  Use the App to take a picture of the dinnerware (or décor) you are trying to find the perfect linen colour to coordinate with and then let the App suggest which colours might work best.

Here are a couple of demonstration videos with Newell Turner, Editor in Chief of America’s House Beautiful Magazine and Martha Stewart to show you how it works and to help you get started.

Glittered Eggs for Spectacular Easter Entertaining

Friday, April 06, 2012

We built a beautiful Easter centerpiece, ready for Easter entertaining by displaying blown out eggs that had been covered in several different gorgeous shades of glitter. We then added some bunnies, artificial grass and ribbon and placed everything on a lovely antique silver tray.

The result:- an amazing centerpiece.

Here’s how we did it.

Step 1. Blow Out the Eggs

Pierce both the top and the bottom of the egg with a darning needle. Make sure the hole at the bottom is slightly larger so that the egg can run out.

Thoroughly rinse and then leave to drain and dry.

Step 2. Decorate the Eggs

Coat the eggs one side at a time with clear craft glue and then spoon varying shades of glitter over them. Repeat on the remaining side once first side has dried thoroughly.

Step 3. Decorated Eggs Drying

Build a foam drying board for the decorated eggs to dry on.

Take a piece of Styrofoam and push some nails into it to form a drying board.

Step 4. Arranging It All Together

Arrange glittered eggs in a beautiful crystal compote or a lovely glass dish. We used artificial grass squares to line the bottom of our tray but you could use green felt pieces or fabric from the craft store.  We then added some glittered felt carrots and bunnies with coordinating ribbon tied around their necks.

Viola!. Happy Easter entertaining everyone.
