How To Choose The Perfect Colour for Your Table Linens - The Sferra App

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Firstly, who would have thought that it was possible to even find table linen in 101 colours and secondly, who would have thought that there would be an App developed just to help you choose your colour.

Well, we are here to officially tell you that all things are indeed possible.

Moyarta have recently become the exclusive Australian stockists of the fabulous Sferra Festival linens that are available in 101 beautiful and vibrant colours. Beautiful quality, hemstitched linens made exclusively for Sferra in Europe using exceptional linen from Lithuania.

You might wonder, how on earth one would choose from such a dazzling selection? This is what the Sferra Linen Colors App is for.

It’s simple really. The App is designed for iPhones and iPads so all you have to do in order to get started is download it from the iTunes App store.  It’s fun, free and will only take a couple of seconds.  Use the App to take a picture of the dinnerware (or décor) you are trying to find the perfect linen colour to coordinate with and then let the App suggest which colours might work best.

Here are a couple of demonstration videos with Newell Turner, Editor in Chief of America’s House Beautiful Magazine and Martha Stewart to show you how it works and to help you get started.

Moyarta Launches Sferra Fine Linens to Australia

Monday, April 09, 2012

We are absolutely thrilled to bring the beautiful table linens of Sferra Fine Linens to Australia.  Internationally renowned for their exceptional quality, these luxurious linens in a wide variety of colours will help to set the theme for any elegant table.

Firstly though, a little bit about the company. Based in New Jersey, USA but originally founded in Venice in 1891 by Gennaro Sferra, Sferra Fine Linens soon set a new standard for luxury fine linen. The first Sferra factory was opened in the shadow of the Rialto Bridge in Venice in 1905.   Gennaro’s intricate Venetian lace cuffs and collars were prized and coveted, and as the turn of the century approached, Gennaro expanded his market to the United States.  Traveling regularly in the U.S., he found his ideal clientele in the grand seaside resorts of the “Gilded Age” that dotted the East Coast from Maine to Palm Beach.

Our favorite Gilded Age “Summer Cottage” located in Newport, Rhode Island

Gennaro relocated his company and family to the United States permanently in 1912 and opened a store on Fifth Avenue New York selling luxurious linens as well as fine laces and intricate embroideries. He returned by steamer to Europe twice a year in order to work on new collections to the ever expanding range.

The next generation saw Gennaro’s two sons, Enrico and Albert, further expand their father’s collection to include the most luxurious European linens of the day–renowned double damask from Ireland, Alençon laces from France, and beautiful embroideries from Belgium and Switzerland.   In 1977, the company was sold by the Sferra family to Paul J. Hooker. Since that time, the company has expanded and secured it’s reputation as a leader in the luxury linens industry. Sferra Fine Linens are now sold throughout the United States and Europe. Their reputation for using only the finest quality fabrics and threads has seen their collections selected by leading hotel chains as well as being used in the White House and many other fine homes throughout the world.

Moyarta is excited to be bringing these fine linens to the Australian market. Beginning with Sferra’s Festival Linens in a staggering range of 101 amazing colours we can now help our customers to match their linen colours to their favourite dinnerware, their home décor or to any colour pallet of their choosing. Tablecloths,  dinner napkins, cocktail napkins and placemats are all available in 101 vibrant colours.

Don’t hesitate to contact Moyarta if there is something from Sferra’s other collections that you see on the Sferra website and would like us to order for you. There is a wide collection of table linens as well as bed and bath and gift collections.

Glittered Eggs for Spectacular Easter Entertaining

Friday, April 06, 2012

We built a beautiful Easter centerpiece, ready for Easter entertaining by displaying blown out eggs that had been covered in several different gorgeous shades of glitter. We then added some bunnies, artificial grass and ribbon and placed everything on a lovely antique silver tray.

The result:- an amazing centerpiece.

Here’s how we did it.

Step 1. Blow Out the Eggs

Pierce both the top and the bottom of the egg with a darning needle. Make sure the hole at the bottom is slightly larger so that the egg can run out.

Thoroughly rinse and then leave to drain and dry.

Step 2. Decorate the Eggs

Coat the eggs one side at a time with clear craft glue and then spoon varying shades of glitter over them. Repeat on the remaining side once first side has dried thoroughly.

Step 3. Decorated Eggs Drying

Build a foam drying board for the decorated eggs to dry on.

Take a piece of Styrofoam and push some nails into it to form a drying board.

Step 4. Arranging It All Together

Arrange glittered eggs in a beautiful crystal compote or a lovely glass dish. We used artificial grass squares to line the bottom of our tray but you could use green felt pieces or fabric from the craft store.  We then added some glittered felt carrots and bunnies with coordinating ribbon tied around their necks.

Viola!. Happy Easter entertaining everyone.
